Treatment of acne with a intense pulsed light (IPL) laser inhibits future breakouts of inflammatory acne. By using advanced technology, such as contact cooling, Dr. Orloff is able to deliver a more comfortable treatments for your patients.

Our dual band laser employs a blue spectrum of light that is absorbed by porphyrins; this destroys p. acnes bacteria to inhibit future acne breakouts.

The advantages of using our IPL laser are

Dark ink large or small tattoos can be completely removed or faded with laser treatments. The number of treatments will vary depending on the type of ink used, size of the tattoo and depth of the tattoo. Even different colors such as red, yellow, or green can be successfully treated and faded. Each treatment usually only lasts several minutes. We implement different techniques such as local anesthetic, numbing cream, and cold to make it as comfortable as possible.

Compared to other methods of hair removal such as tweezing, waxing, or plucking this method is faster and more comfortable. A specialized laser delivers light energy to the hairy area and gently eliminates the hair follicle while preserving the skin. Hair removal treatments are performed in a series-usually 5-7 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart. Each session lasts 15 minutes to several hours depending on the number of areas covered. If you have a tattoo you no longer want, laser removal can eliminate the tattoo for you.  Our YAG tattoo removal laser emits specific light energy that is absorbed by the tattoo pigment.  We can treat blue ink as well as colored tattoos.  The pigment is broken up by the laser into smaller pieces that the body can then eliminate on its own.  After the laser treatment session the tattoo is covered by antibiotic ointment and a light bandage.  The area can develop a thin scab that usually heals in a few days.  The tattoo removal often requires multiple treatments about 6 weeks apart.

Rosecia and facial vein removal.  If you have prominent facial veins or facial redness these can be treated with Candela V-beam laser.  This pulse-dye laser technology emits specific light that is absorbed by red blood vessels.  This light energy causes the blood vessels to be smaller and lighter with each treatment.  For best results these treatments are performed in a series of 5-7 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.  The laser treatment has minimal down time and you can apply make up following the session.

Microdermabrasion (often referred to as Microderm) is a family of cosmetic procedures  in which the stratum corneum (dead outermost surface of the skin) is partially or completely removed by light abrasion, thus eliminating sun-damaged skin. It can also be used to remove or lessen scars and dark spots on the skin.

The procedure is hardly painful and requires no anaesthetic. Microdermabrasion can be used medically for scar removal when the scar is raised above the surrounding skin, but is less effective with sunken scars. There is some evidence that microdermabrasion stimulates collagen formation. Microdermabrasion can also be used for treatment of acne, but must be repeated periodically to be effective.

A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those individuals with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. Phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) are used for this purpose. The precise formula used may be adjusted to meet each patient’s needs.

Just very recently, the Food and Drug Administration approved Dysport, the first new botulinum toxin for wrinkles and muscle spasticity since cosmetic Botox was introduced in 2002. This latest wrinkle fighter is a modified version of botulinum toxin A and inhibits facial muscle contractions that over time lead to forehead lines, frown lines and crows feet. Dr Orloff  found that Dysport was extremely effective in reducing frown lines between the eyebrows. Our results in treating patients showed that Dysport injections would reduce lines and furrows between the eyebrows within 7 days. Side effects were infrequent and resolved within a few weeks.
