During your consultation Dr. Orloff might recommend a breast lift if you experience a change in shape or lack of firmness of your breasts due to skin inelasticity, gravity and other factors such as weight loss, pregnancy and breast-feeding, and if you are otherwise satisfied with the size of your breasts. A breast lift will raise your breasts and make them more firm, resulting in a more youthful breast contour.

Only if you have lost a significant amount of breast volume over time, Dr. Orloff might recommend implants to be used in conjunction with a breast lift procedure to increase breast size while enhancing the shape and position of the breasts at the same time. Depending on your line of work, it is usually possible to return to work within about a week after breast lift surgery. In many cases, you will be able to resume most of your normal activities, including some form of mild exercise, after several weeks. There are several types of breast lifts, which are described at the Buena Vista Surgery web site. The example shown here is an anchor breast lift, used to restore a perky breast appearance in defiance of gravity working relentless over the years.

The time after the surgery?

After surgery, you will initially wear a special post-surgical garment such as an elastic bandage or post-surgical bra for a short time, then followed by a soft support bra. Your breasts may be bruised and swollen, and you may experience some tenderness. These symptoms should subside in a short period of time. You will be instructed on how to care for your surgical wounds as well as any activity restrictions. Your surgical sutures will be removed at the time instructed by Dr. Orloff.
